Why, hello!

So you might be wondering…

What are you doing now, Su?

I’m in Atlanta right now, stranger! Currently pursuing a Master's in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at Georgia Tech.

What got you interested in design and tech?

My interest in HCI comes from my interest in people. In fact, as a child of two software engineers, I was determined from the beginning to pursue a career in anything but tech, because I was interested in people, not technology.

Or so I thought. When I started studying people during my undergrad, majoring in Human Development & Family Sciences, I realized that technology is inextricably intertwined with even the most human of experiences: from maintaining close relationships, to expressing our joys and sorrows, to putting food on the table. And what captivates me most about people is the push and pull relationship that we have with designing these technologies: we shape them, and they shape us.

Okay, but what else are you interested in?

Dogs. I really love dogs. You know how there were always ‘horse girls’ in elementary school? Well I was the dog girl.

And music. Music has been a really big part of my life. I played piano for over ten years, was in drumline in high school (high school marching band in Texas is no joke), and played in the steel pan ensemble during my undergrad.

I also really enjoy jigsaw puzzles! It’s not great for my back, but hey—sometimes you just have to live on the wild side.

This was a terrifying photo to take.
